I was enjoying it until it deposited me in a rage filled closet that I’m still stuck in.
Spoilers warning:
This was really cute to begin with. I’m not usually a fan of the lust at first sight trope, but it wasn’t too awful in this book. And while the main character generally refuses to stand up for herself, she wasn’t horribly annoying.
HOWEVER.
He burned her bookshop to the ground. I don’t care if he thought it was justified. I don’t care that they have a predestined true love. If some man came along and burned my bookshop to the ground I would stab him. Even worse, her sisters advocate for him because he’s “clearly in love”. NO. At the very least she could have punched him. Instead she marries him.
For this egregious crime, I sentence this book to 1.5 stars. Read only if you’re okay with book burning or want to be angry.
