This is the cutest romantic comedy with magic 🥰
Addison Thornrose is the best at picking out your next read and the worst at picking out men. She's a witch with essentially zero magic and unless she marries quickly, her family will lose their magic forever.
Feylin, king of the fae, wants one thing and one thing only. To avenge his dead wife and get his revenge on the Thornrose family. And when he learns the Thornroses are holding a ball to marry off their daughters, he sees an opportunity and takes it.
This book is a delight! I read this in two nights and had such a blast. Tons of laughs, a few "hold my breath" moments. The Bridgerton vibes were *chefs kiss* and I enjoyed (thanked the universe) that it wasn't a direct copy/paste in any way. (It's always something I worry about when the synopsis mentions a show or something from pop culture and I am always pleasantly surprised when they work out this well.) The banter is 10/10, the romance is 11/10, and the story is something I cannot wait to read more of. I loved the sisters, I adored their nicknames, and Blairs story is going to be wonderful, I can just feel it.

Bridgerton, but make it witchy

Listen, I’m a sucker for a cozy romance, and this one serves it in spades! It was such fun watching it unfold from Addison’s POV in particular - she’s funny, kooky, awkward and really quite loveable. The meet cute is hilarious and the initial banter between her and her fated beau is snappy and smart.
I would have liked a little more in the way of foundational info - I felt we skimmed over the reason why Addie and the girls need to be married so quickly (the thread of the series), and the really rather fantastic magic around experiencing books could be a standalone story, but is very much in the background.
Sure, the storyline is slightly flawed (why would Addie think it’s a good idea to give a book as a gift to someone who tells her multiple times that he hates reading; she’s smarter than that. And wouldn’t her magic around choosing the perfect book for people have sent some alarm bells ringing?), but what romcom doesn’t require you to suspend belief a bit? If I can believe they are a witch and a fae fated to be together, I can believe she made an error in judgement by overlooking this important clue.
The TLDR of this review: I left with a smile on my face and my heart was happy having read this cozy love-story. The author has some great (and refreshingly new) ideas that I would love to read more about (nana coming for a chat in the epilogue was

Wow I loved this book so much. I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book from the author and I am so glad she found me!
This was an easy cozy read. Felyn and Addie were adorable. This book gave me Assistant to the villain vibes with its cute scenery and witty dialog between our main characters. I loved the family drama and I enjoyed how the author set up for more of the sisters to have a book. I can see this being a favorite of mine!

I was surprised to see this one didn't have a higher rating BUT I think I know the culprit. I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was a great intro to a new world with wonderful characters to look forward to reading about. I liked the small town vibe with the added element of witches and fae. This one was a pretty slow burn, but I really enjoyed the build up. Addison and Feylin were dancing around each other for a minute. I enjoyed watching Feylin the grump become not so grumpy anymore. I liked the sort of found family. I did have a little bit of a hard time with how fast Feylin flipped a switch and went all jacka** on Addison, but it didn't ruin the story for me.
Addison is at a loss. She has just gotten dumped by a wizard who she thought loved her in a public setting no less mostly because she doesn't have any powers. She ends up back home among her family who all have powers where it is decided that there will be a family ball in her honor to find her a suitor. She needs to get married in order to ensure the survival of her family's powers. The problem is she has no one. So she finds herself at this ball where she plans to ditch asap when she runs into a familiar place. Yes this is the guy whose shoes she threw up on. The same guy who is looking at her with a weird look but then decides to announce to the world they are engaged. Little does she know what that means in his world because he is actually the Fey king. The same Fey who have been hiding at the top of the hill on the far side of the village. Now she is stuck with this mystery man and they have to perform in front of his people to show how their powers are working together. Back to square one where she doesn't have any powers. Things start to slowly shift between them though. She finds herself admiring him and all he is sacrificing and doing for his people. She finds herself wanting to believe when he says he senses power in her. She finds herself not wanting to tell him that she doesn't have powers. Which of course comes back to bite her in the absolute worst way. He now looks at her with betrayal. He wants to break their vow but the only way to do that is through sex which is utterly heartbreaking. She knows that she was tricked but will he believe her? Is it even worth it given he has crushed her dreams?
Feylin has one thing on his mind, and it isn't the woman who threw up on his shoes earlier. No it is revenge on a particular family. A family who altered his life tragically. He finds an opportunity before him, but instead of taking said opportunity he finds himself bound to the witch. She doesn't seem to understand the implications, and frankly he can't seem to figure out why he said what he said. He doesn't even know this woman, and now she has to be within a certain distance of him or they get pulled together. She does have a way about her though that makes him wonder if he could get out of this never ending funk he has found himself in. She makes him want more and want to be better. So he hopes and he takes a leap to see if what they have could be more, but then things change for the worse. How could he not have seen who she really was? But something seems off- will he be able to take the blinders off to see what really happen? Or walk away from his one true love?
Overall this was a super easy fast read. I loved the scene with the rose at the end. I am intrigued to read about all of the next sister. Hope you enjoy :)
