This was a good wrap up to the story. I enjoyed Harper’s storyline, which had kept me reading all along. But I didn’t sense a lot of romance. Their relationship seemed... forced to me. Despite them talking about how much they cared for each other, I just didn’t feel it as a reader. And I wish they had explained a bit more about what happened at the end of the first book. After about a month in between I had mostly forgotten. Yet it wasn’t talked about much.

This is the story about Sean, who works at a tattoo parlor and Harper who is a model. They meet when Harper comes in with her friends to get tattoos. And they decide to meet up at a party.

Both have their own sets of issues- Sean is a recovering alcoholic, and also a dominate- possibly a sadist. Harper is bulimic, and both have family issues. Both always think the worst about themselves.

Is Sean just trading one addi tion for another with Harper? And what happens when Sean's past comes bsck to haunt him, or when Harper's current life comes to a halt?

I give this books 4⭐ out of 5⭐ and cannot wait for the next book in this duet to learn what happens next to Harper and Sean.

I received this ARC for an honest review.

descriptionHot cover on this one. Good representation of the hero. Excellent composition and title work as well.description

descriptionThis one was a bit hit and miss for me. While I found myself pulled into the plot and curious about the characters the writing was off for me. It felt clunky and just didn't have a good flow to it. My other issue was, from the blurb it sounded like I was going to get a good dark D/s book, but really what I got was a book weighed down (too bogged down at times) with major issues. Alcoholism. Eating disorders. Abuse.

description

To be honest, after awhile I just started to skim over the pages and pages of calorie counts, exercise, and fat talk. I wanted less focus on those things and more on the romantic relationship. The above issue stopped me from feeling a connection between these two characters.

So yeah, this started off strong, but by the end, I was struggling to finish it. I will admit I am slightly curious to see what happens with these two characters in the next book. Whether or not I am interested enough to read it remains to be seen.description

ARC... Very Honest & Unpaid Review:

Wow....this book was amazing!! I didn't expect either of the stories to be so intense and explore such heavy issues, which, in my opinion, were done very well. Seriously, I really couldn't help myself. I was totally engrossed in this storyline from the very beginning.

This story continues and jumps right into the legal troubles of Sean, who is a recovering alcoholic. Harper is the woman he truly cares for but is afraid of losing because he's ashamed of the man he is; the man who had succumbed to the powers of alcohol.
This is all new to Sean. He never thought that he could or would feel this deeply about a woman. But darn it if Harper doesn't have her own issues. As a model, she struggles heavily with eating disorders and body image distortion. My heart really went out to her, and I wanted so desperately to shake her, to help her see that although no one is perfect, she is amazing. Harper really had a hard time recognizing her beauty, both inside and out.

Ms. Wood is so good at getting readers to feel the heat between her characters. The love between Harper and Sean is undeniable and one of a kind. The chemistry between these two is so hot & steamy, they can't seem to stay away from each other, no matter how hard they try. Not being able to resist any longer, they inevitably jump right back into a strong, intense, Dom/sub sexual relationship. Let me just add, the scene with the blade had me quite nervous though and a little on edge. I was very relieved when it all worked out, although I definitely won't be trying any of that at home!!...whew!!

I commend Sean for how strong, caring, and concerned he was for Harper while he was finally getting himself together. He was there for her all the way, even when she couldn't see it or didn't realize it. It WAS a little frustrating seeing Harper not relying on Sean when he'd proven himself trustworthy. No matter what, Sean didn't let that deter him. He showed her over and over again that he could be someone she could depend on, someone to help her, be her strength.

The love that Harper and Sean have for each other is the beautiful kind--the kind that's been tested, met with many difficulties, unexpected discoveries, and devastating losses, but came out the other end stronger and better--Tried and True!

**Other Characters:
I loved Sean's brother Connor, and Connor's wife Sam. No matter how difficult, Connor did everything possible to be there for his brother. In this story, he's a man of few words, but he's also loving, kind, strong, loyal, forgiving...

"P" (Philip)--Harper's friend...he held back no punches, straight up, hilarious as hell, but REAL...and exactly what Harper needed in a friend...

**Still couldn't like Ashton though...he was a selfish, self-centered jack@$$!! Sean is a better person than I am because there's no way I'd even have two words left for him other than, f... forget you...lol...!

~*~ I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book ~*~

Sean and Harper are both with dark secrets. When they first meet things start off slow and they're trying to understand each other, you then slowly learn more about what's underneath their skin, so to speak. It's heart-wrenching to read about. Readers should definitely give this book a go! I do recommend if you hate cliffhangers like me (screamed "NOOOOOO" when I reached the end) wait for book 2, really excited to see what happens next.

We first met Sean & Harper in Addiction, where both has Secrets and ashamed of what it is making of them, but living half a life.

In obsession it continues on from the cliffhanger of Addiction (thank goodness I didn’t have to wait too long 😜). Sean & Harper though their relationship has become strained, it becomes clear in order to be together they needed to come to terms of their secret and get the help needed. And its great to see the massive improvement they make not only for themselves but together as a couple.

The sex scenes in this book were phew **wipes brow** intense! There was this one scene I thought I read it wrong but I wasn’t! Oh my oh my lol.

Definite and well deserved HEA for these 2, definitely recommend reading Addiction, before starting Obsession.
