“You should both show your scars. They mean you survived.”
I..uh.. had expectations that were not met & that’s okay.
The ending was good overall.

I LOVED this conclusion to the Serpent & Dove trilogy!
Spoilers ahead:
- Reid’s sacrifice to save Lou — forgetting her so that Morgane would too - OMG.
- His slow process trying to remember her reminded me of Peeta recovering in Mockingjay.

Okkkkkkkkkkkk…bored. So bored…of Reid. He’s a hypocrite, treats his wife and mother like children, and generally has no interesting relationship with anyone, even Lou.
The plot has a fair few tiny little contradictions which just seem like lazy writing, and nothing ever feels like it’s been fully realised, despite the book being over 600 pages.
It’s quite grey, never truly coloured, and the gang never give quite the family feel they set out to achieve; calling everyone sister and brother doesn’t make that the truth.
The best characters (Celie, Beau, Ansel) were never given the development they deserved, and even the main characters felt like ghosts of real people.
There’s an occasional great exchange between the group, and I loved these, but that was all I loved.
Bit of a waste of time?

The third and final muse of the S&D series, Gods and Monsters is legit the only book I’ve read which has a perfect end to a series. There are series that I’ve read and there’s nothing anyone can do to change my mind with regards to this being the best book series end ever. I mean, how can a book series end be this perfect?
I don’t have much to say apart from the fact that the character development and the world building is too amazing. Especially with Beau and Reid. The book is too much connected to every aspect and I cannot possibly say one thing without revealing the other and well, I don’t want to ruin it for anyone.
This whole book was a emotional roller coaster where I laughed and smiled and cried, mostly cried. I could not put this book down and by the end of it, my heart felt a kind of contentment I’ve never felt. This boom is so full of everything and oh well, the whole series has to be the perfect blend of everything. Get it alreadyyyyyy
