Loved the pacing of this book and the reflective nature of the text. I was enraptured by the world of the novel right away and up until the very end.

Welllll… I don’t know about this one. It was compelling, that’s for sure. It’s a fast read, like racing downhill on a bike. But somehow it was simultaneously a race toward the inevitable end and a long wait.

Waiting for what? For the protagonist to have some kind of redeeming quality. Some back story to explain her choices and behavior. Some depth that just wasn’t there. Maybe that’s what others appreciate about the novel — its artistry. It certain achieves the feeling of vacancy.

In the end (and after a decidedly non-ending), I felt a little bit like an insecure patron at a modern art museum, staring at some strange abstract piece, trying to figure out if there’s more to it than I’m seeing.
