Brooke Shields uses her powers for good in this book, particularly by encouraging people to advocate for ourselves in health situations. As she says, she may not be a medical expert, but she is a Brooke Shields expert, so she knows when something is not right. Unfortunately, she’s had a bit of experience with doctors not listening to her.
I was expecting some humour and wisdom, but this book exceeded my expectations! I appreciated the advice about trying new things but also being OK with giving things up.
There is a bit of promotion of Brooke Shields’ haircare for menopausal women, but it’s not too obnoxious.
I read the book, but the audiobook would be really good too, since Brooke reads it herself.

It was interesting listening about her whole life. The change that comes with aging. Listening to all that she has been through and how she persevered through it all is inspiring.

I wanted to like this book. I wanted it so much that, after returning it unfinished to the library, I checked it out again a second time. But... no. It felt far more like a self-promoting marketing stunt than an authentic sharing of something the author felt would be useful to her readership. I did make it all the way through to the end, and enjoyed some of the anecdotes Brooke shares -- especially the infuriating medical situations she dives into. But I would not recommend it.
