I loved this book! It made me laugh, yes, but mostly it pissed me off! She gives so many examples of times in her life when she has been discriminated against, disregarded, mistreated and even experienced medical malpractice it’s infuriating… but when you consider how many million other women experienced the very same things? It’s quite heartbreaking.
It’s actually much more than that though. It’s a celebration of midlife and of the female experience despite all of the many obstacles that have been put in our way.
I especially loved that this was an audiobook and I got to hear Brooke’s stories in her own voice. Thank you Brooke for speaking so eloquently for our generation of women.
And thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy!

Encouraging read. Definitely feel like women thrive after 40-50 bc you stop being dragged down by society. Was an interesting read to hear someone with such a bizarre background, thrust into Hollywood in such a toxic way as she was.
Audiobook pet peeve: she mispronounces ‘affect’ every time it’s used as a verb (says ‘aff-ect’ instead of ‘uh-fect’)

Overall - was positive. Some of the anecdotes reinforced to me the ways that younger generations (especially gen Z) are freeing themselves from some of the everyday pressures and struggles than women of gen x/boomers were facing culturally.
Like instead of being polite to men being inappropriate/assholes/predatory/judging, gen z might just go ‘eww’ or say ‘are you okay’ and dismiss the loser as not worth their time.
Also re: enjoying your ‘nice’ clothes. We don’t get hung up on the nice stuff like our boomer parents (the china you can’t touch, furniture you can’t sit on, etc). Only live once, use it! No space for extra clutter anyway
Anyway was light read

Brooke is interesting while she talks about her life and her history. A bit long winded at times, but certain topics are very interesting.
