King of Envy is an emotional inferno wrapped in tension, secrets, and an all-consuming forbidden romance that had me breathless from the first chapter. Ana Huang crafted pure magic with Ayana and Vuk. A pair that should never work, and yet, burn so perfectly together it hurts.

Ayana is strong in the quietest, most graceful ways. Trapped in a fake engagement to, a calculated move for freedom and security. She’s just trying to survive, until Vuk enters her world like a storm she never saw coming. Vuk is the ultimate morally grey hero: scarred, silent, brutal, and fiercely protective. He doesn’t speak much, but when he does (or when he signs), the intensity is unmatched. Their chemistry? Electric. Their tension? Devastating.

From forced proximity to unspoken longing and throat-clutching confessions, the slow-burn romance absolutely slays. Vuk is the embodiment of “Beauty and the Beast”, all rough edges and hidden vulnerability. The way he worships Ayana in secret, protects her in silence, and watches her like she’s the only light in his world? I died. I melted. I screamed.

What makes this story unforgettable is not just the romance, though trust me, it delivers, but the layers of danger, betrayal, and emotional scars both characters carry. The Brotherhood plotline is dark and thrilling, and the emotional payoff in the final chapters had me sobbing and swooning in equal measure.

Ana Huang has given us a hero who carves his love into your bones and a heroine who rises from the ashes like a queen. This isn’t just a forbidden romance, it’s the forbidden love story that grabs your heart and refuses to let go.

If you like your love stories angsty, intense, and unforgettable King of Envy is your next obsession.

Ripping off her own novel. The mafia/assassin plot was so dumb and unbelievable. The entire novel is based on suspension of belief.

Wheres the envy??? He was envious for about four lines. The title is misleading.

Everything is just so conveniently set up. What are the odds that your mean boss/agency head is also a gang leader and is extremely evil and plotting to kill your boyfriend.

Gross to include sexual assault as a plot driver.

Vuk:
Tortured and doomed by the narrative.
⇒ Lady luck has abandoned him in all aspects but money (and love).
⇒ Only communicates in ASL cuz he doesn’t like to waste his words no just anyone, I don’t know what that means either.
⇒ Hes boring actually, and pathetic and embarassing. Not unhinged, just boring.
⇒ Made billions off a vodka company if you can believe that.
⇒ Obsessed with Ayana since her debut era or something, lmao.

Ayana:
I’m not sure what’s there to like about her.
⇒ Perfumes and heels are her personality.
⇒ Seems relatively unaffected by the fact that she killed someone.
⇒ The SA affected her for 2 pages. ⇒ Vuk keeps calling her smart when she makes surface level observation.

Ending was predictable, but I cant ask more from Ana. Im sure Ayanas gonna end up knocked by the series ending. Shocker that Stella wasn’t.

As always, the playlist sucks <3

0.5 for Roman.
