Damn near vicious. Everyone. From the Friend turned Nazi, denying help to a friend in need. To the revenge of essentially tearing apart someone's life through letters. It is still so jarring to me to read about those that changed so quickly and so wholeheartedly into the Nazi movement, without much provocation that anyone can see.

I hadn’t read this book since I was a pre-teen, and reading it again as an adult was chilling. So powerful in so few pages, a must read!

It’s not often that a short story (as this was originally published) can twist my guts in quite the way this one has. I’d recommend this for any literature class, honestly, as Katherine Kressmann Taylor did a phenomenal job at packing a lot of punch into very few pages.
