Lady Philippa Darlington is everything but the wallflower she pretends to be. She’s daring, she’s witty, she’s feisty and most of all she’s battling an hopeless attraction for one of his brother’s best friends!
Xander Macauley is called the Limehouse Prince for a reason: he’s risen from the gutter to become one of the richest man in London. Respected by his friends and feared by most, he’s totally unsuitable for a duke’s sister, even if the duke in question is a dear friend of his. So why can’t he seem to able to shake off the undeniable attraction he feels for her?
This book is everything!!! I didn’t think I would have liked a book more than The Brazen Bluestocking, but I could literally DIE for this one! There’s so much chemistry between Pippa and Macauley that the page (my Kindle actually) seemed to take fire every time they were together. And – oh my! – Tracy can write! She’s a veritable master at creating three-dimensional, loveable, swoonable characters and at involving the reader in the growth of their love story. This is definitely one of the books that I’ll want to re-read as often as possible. Five stars are not enough. I think I’ll invent a thousand star system of review just for this book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don’t like when fmcs are too obsessive and throw themselves at the mmc it gives me secondhand embarrassment. I only read this because I absolutely love the Author’s writing but this was making me actively cringe.

This book was such an fun read, I’ve been enjoying this author a lot. Her books always have me hooked.

I fell in love with our lovely mains, Xander and Pippa. Their chemistry was definitely there, and watching them slowly falling for one another and opening up to each other was a delight.

Xander is your typical historical romance hero: brooding, tortured and well… hella stubborn Did I occasionally feel the urge to slap him because of it? Absolutely, but I still enjoyed the book.

The only reason this book doesn’t get a higher rating from me is the because the second part of it felt dragged out, which is an issue I’ve already encountered while reading other works from this author. It starts off great but, the second part of the book always falls short.

Don’t get me wrong, the book was entertaining but I honestly felt like it could’ve ended a few chapters earlier. I understand that conflict is what makes a book entertaining, but sometimes, all I wanted was less twists and turns. Sometimes less is better.

Overall, I do recommend this book for anyone that is starting out with historical romance or looking for a fun, easy and quick read.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC, and for giving me the opportunity to read this book. My opinions are my own.

Thanks to the author for the complimentary e-ARC. All opinions provided are my own.

Recently I was bookstagram influenced to try Tracy Sumner’s historical romances. If you’re a Kerrigan Byrne fan, if you like oomph & drama & intensity & steam, you might want to check out The Wicked Wallflower.

Lady Philippa Darlington is a woman with a plan & when that plan doesn’t work, she’s a woman with a backup plan. She is sneaky & brave & refuses to be cowed. She also has pants feelings for her brother’s close friend & business partner & altogether unsuitable hottie Xander Macauley.

Xander basically tries hard to resist. & then when he gives in—finally—they nearly sex themselves into beautiful oblivion.

The Wicked Wallflower isn’t about subtlety IMO. As an example, characters (even secondary) are often described as beasts or brutes etc. Sometimes—like in those cases—it feels excessive to me. But I also appreciate it when it comes to aspects of the leads’ dance together—the descriptions of the temptation & passion & the lovely bewildering majesty of falling in love & being in love.

4⭐️. Out now!

CWs: reference to child abuse; violence. Also the book makes note of certain items the hero imports from the American colonies—“He imported the very best from the Carolinas.” This gave me a squeamish feeling given America’s history of slavery.

I really enjoyed this steamy, slow-burn romance. I adored Pippa as a heroine, and Xander was her swoon-worthy hero. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I absolutely loved this book! I was so excited to read about Macauley and Pippa’s story after getting to know them more in the previous book! I tried putting it down as I should’ve been studying for my finals but I was so addicted to the story (to the whole series tbh) that I just couldn’t stop reading. And should I fail my exam…well, what can I say: this book was totally worth it

What I loved most about it:
- strong and not passive FMC that does take her life into her own hand and is longing for a purpose that does not include being a wife
- Summer’s writing style. The banter between all the characters is top notch
- Complex MMC and FMC
- MMC wearing glasses?! I’m all here for it ✨

* I hope we’ll get a book about Dash and Theo!! Apparently, book 5 will be released in Spring 2023 and I am ✨praying✨ this is true *

More information:
- MMC is her older brother’s best friend
- age gap (10ish years)
- spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (if you’re a dark romance reader, it’s probably less)

What a gem of a book! Xander and Pippa are possibly my favorite H and h ever (in a lighthearted, adventurous way!).
