My last review was correct. I stayed up until 5:30 AM to finish listening to this audiobook. Lord. These two??? Smh.
I really enjoyed the character progression for our MCs and SCs. The different group dynamics were interesting to see, and I enjoyed the new characters like Justin.
My 2 main problems with this book were:
1. The conflict was essentially the same as the first book? Which I know was kind of the point but also not really? I don’t feel like it was emphasized enough between them that once again he goes home, sees his ex gf, comes back and breaks up with her. Like that’s wild. It’s been over 5 years. You’d think he would have grown some. I understand the reasoning behind the breakup was different for each book, but idk. I wish the conflict had played out differently. Though clearly Alex Volkov had some inspo👀
2. I’m still screaming at how quickly he forgave his ex for lying to him all those years ago. She literally ruined his life. At least in part. He experienced so much trauma because of her. First with thinking he cheated on his gf. Then thinking he’s going to be a young father. Finally thinking he killed his own baby. Which like obviously it’s not like the accident is okay because it wasn’t his baby, but they would never have been in the car together if she hadn’t lied!! He broke up with the love of his life and wasted 5 years they could have been together because of her. And if she hadn’t miscarried, he would have married her and raised her kid!!! That’s insane!!!!! And he’s just like yeah I get it. It’s okay. UM EXCUSE ME SIR?! Absolutely not.
I’m conflicted if I want to continue on. I want to know what happened between Olivia and Sammy, but I’m nervous it’s going to piss me off. Also I love Chris, I really do, I just don’t feel motivated to read her story? I’m kind of content just knowing she found love with this gorgeous, kind actor. Lowkey wish there was a book about Justin, but alas.
