Nicely done nuanced takes on love and money. This was a real joy of a journey - even the hairy bits didn't go 'too far' in the depictions. I figured I'd find the characters endearing and ultimately relatable, being entirely populated by people. I'm glad that worked out.

I liked the book but I do wish it was a little bit shorter, I was finding myself pushing through it a little bit. I know there are two other books in the series but I don't even find myself that drawn to read them, though I would like to just to complete it. There are so many perspectives and points of views and some are definitely more interesting than others.

Loved the movie. Loved the book even more! Can’t wait to read the 2nd and 3rd books.

Another, book where I picked it up because I loved the movie. I enjoyed the book more than the movie. I really enjoyed the pace and the normalcy of Nick and Rachel's relationship. The movie really rushes the pace of the relationship and immediately jumps to marriage but I like the slower pace of the book.

I think another reviewer said this is a great book to watch the movie first because the author tells they don't show. I could not agree more! The descriptions were vague at best and every character ran together because they were all described the same way. However, I almost stopped reading when I reached the dog fight scene. Why was that the most detailed scene of the entire book? Additionally, I really did not enjoy the constant changing of perspectives for every single chapter. It included a lot of side characters or people who were only mentioned once. It was very confusing at times and I was constantly flipping back to the front of the book where the family tree was written.

I enjoyed this book because it added more depth than what the movie provided. However, I have no interest in reading the second or third book in this series.

This book was a lot of fun, full of extravagance and drama. My major issue is the pacing, though. The first 200 pages and the last 100 are really interesting. The middle 200 pages were a bit of a trial to get through. I'm still interested in the characters, though, so I'll definitely check out the sequel.
