I told myself I wasn’t gonna read it as a former Christian. And then it went on sale in the Kindle store and I couldn’t say no. I can safely say I do not regret it at all. It is pure taboo but man is it hot. I definitely related to both Tyler and Poppy, as I have been both of them. As the daughter & granddaughter of ministers I felt weird reading Priest, but also freed.

Outside of fanfiction, this is one of the filthiest things I’ve ever read. The things they do in this book
ON THE ALTAR?????
are deranged and I loved it. However, I felt like there were some missed opportunities for plot. We don’t really get to delve into their characters outside of the smut, and I think it could given us more of a reason to like them as individuals. It definitely would gave made the sex hotter if we’d seen some growth happening too. Perhaps this is a lot to  ask for a filthy, taboo romance, but if you’re interested in some taboo Shenanigans, you’ve come to the right place

I have a lot of conflicted feelings about this book.

Starting with the good stuff: the smut is top tier. Seriously good.

Onto the rest… i think being an ex-Catholic made this book a lot less enjoyable to read for me, because I don’t particularly require my romance reads to make me think about my own religious upbringing and beliefs - it’s hard to put into words, but immersing myself in that Catholic world made me uncomfortable.

In terms of the romance itself, I really
do think this would have benefitted from a slower burn and more tension. I found it hard to believe they were in love rather than just lust. I also HATED the third act breakup and found the reunion was too quick for me personally.

Also docked points because of the positive references to white saviour mission trips, because yuck.

first off, the main piece of personality we get from the mmc is that he is a priest and that he likes the walking dead. the fmc has NO personality whatsoever. the writing also isn’t great in general. the 130 year old woman was the only character i liked and she had about 10 sentences total. i was so looking forward to this book and it was so popular on booktok but it does not live up to the hype at all and i was incredibly disappointed.

This book is an amazing taboo romance. The characters are well developed and the plot is just as good as the spice. What makes this book really interesting is most of the book is written from the MMC's perspective with a few science from the FMC's perspective.
