This felt like it wanted to be Sharp Objects but kept falling short. The main character never felt broken in a way that justifies her actions or her feelings about returning to this town.

Also, as someone who grew up in southern Indiana, seeing IU referred to as the University of Indiana almost made me stop reading.

a solid debut. you can tell this is ritter’s first novel though, especially with her tendency to belabor the point. there was a lot going on in this book and felt a bit fragmented at times - I think it would’ve been better if she made this 350ish pages

I really enjoyed Bonfire. I picked it up because I absolutely loved Krysten Ritter in Jessica Jones and it did not disappoint. I've never been one to read mysteries, but I watch plenty of crime dramas, so I enjoyed following the clues and putting all the pieces together. As someone that doesn't read dark dramas/thrillers, I've somehow read my fourth one of the year. Unlike the other three, pulled this one from the bottom of my TBR.

Quick read. Some parts very predictable, yet there was still a small twist that I didn't see coming at the end.
