As always the author creates a vivid sense of place. Full characters and long hidden secrets. I really liked it

Not a patch on her other books, but interesting enough. Just didn’t engage with any of the characters, story was good but the ending didn’t do it justice

The bones of this story will be familiar to Jane Harper’s readers. A man returns to his hometown and must face a tragedy from his past. Mysterious circumstances surround two deaths, one from the past and one as the story unfolds. There are obvious similarities to “The Dry”, but that doesn’t make the story any less enjoyable. A slow burn, sure, but top-notch writing, character development, complex plot, vivid setting. Harper nailed it again.
