I really don't like the writing style or characters. There's lots of exposition, awkward sentences like "Ellen, being in the middle of her two friends in size, color, and politics, was usually the odd woman out..."
and the womens' habit of jumping to wild conclusions is just extremely irritating already.

This is a cozy mystery haunted house story but instead of the Hardy Boys it's middle aged women. It screams YA.

What starts as a ghost story turns into something else entirely. When Ellen and her friends stumble on a Greek Revival house with a sordid past they decide to buy it and turn it into a bed and breakfast but as the history of the house and the atrocities that happened there they aren't sure about their plans. With ghosts, atrocities toward women in the name of helping them, hidden gold and issues between mothers and daughters this is a fun and witty read.

This was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed the story but the writing was a bit awkward to me. Some parts had abrupt transitions while other parts had unnecessary detail. The dialog was also a bit unnatural, and certain phrases were overused. I did enjoy the balance of humor and spooky/disturbing content. Overall, this was an entertaining story perfect for a October.
