I'll honestly forever be in the mood for some mafia romance. while it was not mind-blowing, it was still terribly addicting (I simply could not put it down) and I'm excited to follow all our different characters in the next books! (3.57)

I read this book because it was being talked about a lot on booktok but…I don’t know why. Maybe I’m not into mafia romances? But the plot pacing felt weird to me. Events happen too quickly, so it was difficult to get invested in the characters. Not sure I’ll bring reading the other brutal birthright series.

Second Read (March 2023): 5⭐️
I am still as obsessed with this book upon this reread! I am just trash for Sophie's writing and I love these characters so much! Aida is a bad b*tch and I freakin love her. I adore the sibling relationships amongst the Gallos and how protective the brothers are of Aida. Callum, my OG alpha/posessive/touch her and you di_ baddie- I still love you!

Well I wasn't planning on rereading the entire series but I don't think I can stop myself tbh. It's a win win so I'm not mad at it.

This was my first taste of a dark/mafia romance, and I absolutely will be coming back for more because I devoured this!! This was an actual hate to love romance where the hero & heroine both try to kill each other?!? 🤌🏼

Aida is one of four kids, the only daughter, to a renowned Italian mobster. She is a complete badass who takes no sh*t from anyone. Being raised in that environment, she has such a keen ability to navigate social situations to her advantage. Aida has huge main character energy, as she should!

Callum is the eldest child, and only son, to the Irish Family. He’s brutish, possessive & jealous but did I care? Absolutely not. Callum is the hottie alphahole of our dreams.

After a small incident at a party hosted by Cal’s family, Aida and Callum are forced into an arranged marriage to keep the peace between the Italians and the Irish. This hate to love was delectable. Watching Cal & Aida go from enemies to lovers was such a fun time. I adore these two together so much!! Plus the spice was indeed, s p i c e y 😮‍💨🥵

I cannot wait to binge the rest of this series. Shout out to booktok for helping me bump this one wayyyy up the tbr. Thank you Sophie for giving us a real hate to love to eat up, no crumb left behind.😈

There's an age gap (older man, young woman) and explicit mentioning of grooming. There's violence, attempts at murder and SA, and
the male love interest at one point finds that almost drowning his fiance is sexy
. There are BDSM themes but zero mentions of clearly stated consent, safewords, or aftercare. Also, the female main character seems very "I'm not like other girls" which made reading from her perspective a little annoying.
