Really good. Read it too fast and it left off on a cliff hanger, now I want the next one. I really like the art in this specific series both how they make the suit look and Tony.

Despite my love of the Iron Man movies, I've never liked his comics. Until Matt Fraction's Invincible. This is fun, high concept material with a character that is the closest to the Robert Downey Jr character. If you've felt similar to me about the Iron Man comics, pick up Fraction's work.

Eh, I don't know. A) I'm not a big fan of this whole Dark Reign affair and B) I like Tony, I really do, but so far I'm not sure I really care about anyone else in this book. I'm going to wait and see, however.

As I said, this book is part of the Dark Reign crossover event thingamaging, and we love those! Right! Since the entire Superhero Registration database is stored on Tony's harddrive/brain and he refuses to hand the data over to Norman Osborn, Tony is now on the run, while Pepper and Maria Hill also have their own missions. It's not bad, but it also didn't exactly blow me away so far.

Warning: Don't read this GN if you haven't read the Secret Wars (or know about it). I knew a little about it, but I've never been able to actually read that arc, so I was a little confused as to what was going on.
Like, HOW DID Osborn get in control?
What!? I just... What? That was frustrating.

I also kept wanting to ask the characters what in the world did they think they were doing? (Besides being idiots I mean.) I was just so frustrated by the choices they were making. Trying not to spoil too much so... yah.

The art was amazing--LOVED it.

Writer Matt Fraction keep the tale of his Iron Man run taut and fierce in this one.

Alongside the events of Marvel's blockbuster "Dark Reign" storyline, Tony Stark has been made all but a villain in the public eye by H.A.M.M.E.R. (the replacement for S.H.I.E.L.D.) director Noman Osborne (the former Green Goblin). Tony's tech has once again been compromised. It's been attacked by a Skrull virus (with the events of "Secret Invasion") and adapted by crazed, heartless villains.

Tony Stark has been brought low. He and his associates Pepper Potts and former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill are hunted like animals by the ruthless Osborne, as he attempts to seize information to extend his Dark Reign.

The story is intense and exciting, making you flip every page recklessly, as our heroes go on the run.

The art (again by Salvador Larroca and crew) is again futuristic and cutting edge, perfectly fitting for a story that has the same characteristics.

Recommended for Iron Man fans, fans of wonderful, literary superhero books, and, again, fans of the creators who put it together.

Extremis has failed, Stark technologies are not operational, and Tony Stark is on the run when Norman Osbourne takes over his company. Tony has some crucial information stashed away somewhere very close to him that Osbourne just cannot have. Queue the manhunt for an underpowered Iron Man on the run. Pepper Potts and Maria Hill are given lots of room to shine here as they both help and are manipulated into helping Tony. This is part one so we end with a cliffhanger with things perhaps getting worse. Honestly though I really loved Maria Hill in this, especially near the end. I hope she continues to be awesome here - and that things end up okay for Tony of course.

I had a long review halfway written, but lost it due to leechblock. Will have to reconstruct it later.

Short version:

Plot "logic": -100

The art: -50. I think it may be even worse than Volume 1. Getting a haircut and shaving off a beard should not change someone's jawline. Also the coloring continues to be horribly supersaturated and all the textures are too smooth. Human skin looks like it's made out of plastic.

Tony Stark: self-destructive asshole trying to kill self out of guilt for Registration and Captain America's death, semi-consciously engineering collusion of friends in his punishment to try to force their forgiveness. Plot logic still is not, though.

Pepper Potts: interesting! Hung up on self-destructive boss. I like her development, except for the suit of armor with breasts on the breastplate. I mean, I didn't expect any better, but it still annoys me.

Maria Hill: awesome! Why doesn't Maria Hill have her own book? I like her.
