Good rhymes and rhythm, and the one-uping of the predators by the typical prey is a pleasure.

Clever mouse. 😏 I can definitely see why it's a classic. I'm a sucker for a rhyming tale with good illustrations, especially when the protagonist succeeds by outwitting those who thought they had the upper hand.

One time read, and then go back to pull out features. Flow of reading, prediction, characteristics of different characters in the book.

Clever little story with a clever little mouse! I love this. So glad that I discovered it! Will use for visualizing characters.

That was pretty good. I was familiar with the character but had not read the book. After all, why should I!? I'm not a child and never was at the time-oh it's older than I thought. I could have read this as a child. Anyway the other aspect, of having (or taking care of) a child is also not applicable. I just need to match up to my Goodreads Reading Challenge number (I saw "The Gruffalo" and "The Gruffalo" looked good).
I might reread it a few times to increase the number further. But then, that's how it's intended to be read, isn't it? Nobody that reads "The Gruffalo" gets away with only reading it once.
