Halfway through the series and I’m seeing a pattern here where Act 3 is always the weakest which is very unfortunate. Having seen S2 of the show, I can’t help but play spot the difference. Until they were married, they show and book were neck and neck in the race, but the last third of the book really drags on. Kate’s trauma is interesting to explore bc it’s the first time I’ve ever read a published book with the “I’m scared of thunder” trope instead of fanfic (not to mention Julia Quinn could seriously have a future in horror writing bc Mrs. Sheffield’s death scene is WILD). However, ANTHONY omfg the book really tried to make me hate him for being soooo one track minded. Not to mention we got a whole…2 pages? Of suspense during the carriage accident that resolved itself WAY too quickly to be impactful.

Only book two and the rhythm of this series already seems repetitive. Still very enjoyable and I will be continuing the series!

I enjoyed this book. However it wasn’t that much better than the first book. I also found it a bit slow towards the middle and their marriage was a bit weirdly placed.
I did like how the author handled grief in this book as well.
Best part of the book was 100% Colin and the family dynamics was the best part of this book.

Can’t wait for season 2 on Netflix. Everything you want and more from a bridgerton book can be found here. The ending was so utterly sweet.
