The wealthy head of the Inugami clan dies, leaving behind a controversial will. Following this, the highly eccentric family split into factions before some members are murdered in bizarre circumstances. Thankfully, Kosuke Kindaichi is on hand to help to solve the mystery of the serial killer.

This is my second Detective Kosuke Kindaichi book by Seishi Yokomizo. Much like the first, I enjoyed the pace and the plot of this book, with a nice twist coming at the end. It takes a while to get used to the cast of characters, but the story is well-structured. It was a great book to listen to while doing some DIY.

Interesting read because it is a Japanese detective fiction and the author compares to our Agatha Christie. The plot was interesting but the characters are not very well developed.

Giving this 4 stars only because I felt it dragged at points. Otherwise truly an excellent mystery. Full of lots of twists and turns. Just when I thought I had a part of it figured out, something would happen that would make no sense to my theory. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of his books!
