Flew through this in two days. Obviously, it is quite unbelievable that so many bad things happen to these same characters over and over again, but as a standalone book, it was a page-turner.

This book wrecked me in the best way possible. Out of the first three Grant County books, A Faint Cold Fear is by far my favorite. Karin Slaughter delivers another intense, emotionally charged thriller that’s impossible to put down.

The mystery is gripping, with disturbing crime scenes, shocking twists, and the kind of deeply unsettling storytelling that slaughter does so well. But what really made this book stand out for me was Lena. Her struggles in this book are gut-wrenching- watching her spiral was heartbreaking yet so raw and realistic. She’s flawed, angry, and broken, but that’s what makes her such an incredible character.

The emotional weight in this book hits hard, and slaughter isn’t afraid to take her characters to dark places. It’s violent, it’s painful, and it’s so well done. If you’re reading the Grant County series, this one is a must-read. Absolutely loved it!
