The third of a dark series of books. The plot is subordinate to the development of the main characters and also to their relationships. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Uuuufffff was war das?... Ich habe mich richtig gefreut mal einen Thriller zu lesen...Ich muss sagen ich fand die Geschichte überhaupt nicht spannend...Ich hatte das Gefühl es geht sehr viel Zeit mit "unnötigen" Dialogen drauf. Leider war mir keiner der Charaktere in irgendeiner Form sympathisch.
Außerdem mag ich es nicht, wenn es in einem Buch oberflächlich um Homophobie und Rassismus geht. Das Thema wurde meiner Meinung nach nicht ausreichend behandelt, auch wenn es nur "nebensächlich" darum ging. Ich mag es auch nicht wenn Schimpfworte zu dem Thema in Büchern genutzt werden. Auch wenn solche Worte von einem offensichtlich unsympathischen Charakter genutzt werden, finde ich es trotzdem nicht sehr angemessen.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series. The second book was well-written with compelling characters, but the very dark subject matter—while it kept me engaged—was not something I “enjoyed” reading. This book was off-putting for different reasons.
Firstly, the number of grisly murders that take place in this small, backwater town is starting to stretch the bounds of credibility for me. If it was set in a bustling metropolitan area, it would be totally believable.
Secondly, Lena is problematic for me on two levels. Although l am appalled by the brutal attack she survived in the first book and felt quite sympathetic towards her in the first two books, she is such a snarky b_tch with a chip on her shoulder large enough to crush an elephant that I really found myself intensely disliking her. And her involvement with Ethan just boggled my mind. I really don’t get that, or her. It made this a lesser book for me than the first two.

C'est mon troisième polar par Karin Slaughter et comme les deux fois précédentes, la première page m'a filé des sueurs froides de crainte d'avoir à faire face à une romance déguisée en polar. Y'a pas de mal à lire de la romance. Mais j'aime pas l'emballage mensonger.
Mais ce n'était que la première page...
Encore une fois, Karin Slaughter choisit des thèmes difficiles et les utilise de manière sobre et pas vraiment dans les sentiers battus. Probablement parce que la narration passe par trois points de vue très différents. C'est d'ailleurs le travail sur les personnages que l'on peut noter dans ces polars. Le plus intéressant, à mon avis, est probablement celui qui partage le plus les lecteurs.
On ne s'attarde pas inutilement sur les relations familiales et amoureuses des protagonistes, bien qu'elles soient omniprésente dans la trame.
Pas non plus de jugement facile et moralisateur concernant la violence conjugale, sans que celle-ci soit minimisée ni excusée. Ce sont plutôt formes, réactions et conséquences qui sont le point central.
Ah, et Lena qui s'enfonce dans le gouffre de désespoir et de violence que semble être sa vie déjà bien bourrée de difficultés, en accumulant mauvaises décisions et attractions.
Une série (terminée et pas trop longue) que je poursuivrai donc avec plaisir!

As I’m getting emotionally attached to these characters, this book was a tough read. The ending was absolutely insane, I never would have seen it coming.
