This installment of Slaughter's Grant County series is driven more by the characters than the murders. Now that her uncle has gone home, Lena has fallen apart. And Jeffrey Tolliver and the rest of the police department have no idea how to deal with her breakdown. Sara has mixed feelings about Jeffrey and longs for a more challenging job at a hospital in Atlanta. And there's a bit of a cliffhanger...

With the previous two books I could distinctly remember who the killers were and why, but with this one I wasn't so sure.
Funny how your brain retains certain  things and forgets others.
So this re-listen was a blast.

Lena's story is such a sad one, but I just can't like her.
Now on to my favourite of the Grant County series.

This book has definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I am surprised to say that I did not see that ending coming at all.
