This was my second time reading this and I loved it even more the second time around. It's a story about a woman who finds out her husband is cheating on her and will do everything she can to save her marriage. Not because she thinks she doesn't deserve better, but because she believes in her marriage and the sacredness of it.

The biggest theme in this book is a sentence the main character, Kari, says over and over again: "Love is a decision." It's why she is fighting for her marriage and it's a message that needs to be displayed everywhere because love IS a decision. It's not a flighty emotion, it's a decision to fight for what you believe in.

My only complaint is that there were times that the counseling sessions felt too clinical and rehearsed.

The story is one of many in the Baxter family series and I can't wait to read more!

I liked it at first, but then it just seemed fluffy/predictable.  I might return to it at some point, but right now I just can't get into it.

I did come back and finish this book.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters in this book are very endearing and the story is kind of exciting. Sometimes the author can get a little preachy at times and the book isn't too well-written, but I made it through this book really quickly and liked it enough to read the sequel. Pretty good for Christian fiction.

I reviewed this book several years ago, so this is a reread review.  I can tell you that my thoughts then were high on this book and not much has changed through the years. Mrs. Kingsbury's books were introduced to me by my mother many years ago, and I was hooked. Redemption was one of the first Kingsbury books that I read, and it is one of my favorites. I was instantly hooked on it the first time I read it, and the reread was no different. Whenever I find myself in a book funk, or I suffer a tragedy in my life, I pick up Redemption and am reminded that with God's redeeming grace, I can pull through anything.

As someone who went through a bad first marriage, this book truly hits home for me. There are many elements of the book that I went through but I didn't lean on God through it all like Kari did. I loved watching her character again. It truly felt like reuniting with a long lost friend. The pain and suffering she felt, once again became my own. The sadness and the struggling, were mine. I found myself wanting to wrap her in a big old hug and fall to my knees to pray for her.

This is definitely still a 5 star book in my opinion. Mrs. Kingsbury can create a novel that will suck you in, wrap you up in God's warmth and grace, and set you down in a brand new place. Her words will stay with you long after you've shut the pages, long after you've placed the book back on the shelf. She will leave you breathless and ready for the next book. I highly recommend this book to all!

This book was so good. But of course it is---because it is Karen Kingsbury. I enjoyed it so much. I can't wait to continue with this series.

Thanks, Kristin Lee and Shannon Henderson! I probably would not have ventured into Karen's books. This book is the beginning of the Baxter family saga. Holy cow, have tissues ready! You'll have tears of joy, sadness and even feel some anger at some of the choices made. Once I started, I couldn't put the book down. One of my favorite characters is Kari. She goes through hell. She learns of deception, true forgiveness and loss. God gives her a second chance when he brings Ryan back into her life. I have to read the whole series now because you just have to know how each of the characters ends up.

Read it if you get the opportunity! Karen Kingsbury is a terrific writer.
