I don’t actually have the words to explain how much I loved this book - all I will say is that if I wasn’t laughing I was absolutely sobbing. I related to Nora in a way that I’ve never related to any other fictional character ever. Our stories aligned in so many ways it was almost creepy.

This was my first Emily Henry book and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to pick up one of hers but I know I won’t be stopping any time soon.

I would recommend it if you love a heartfelt story about sisterhood, finding yourself and falling in love along the way.

id argue this was not a romance book…there was way more focus on the main character’s relationship with her sister

This is the second Emily Henry book I’ve read. I preferred Beach Read. Found this one a bit disappointing, leaning heavily on character tropes but not committing enough to turn them on their heads. Found the characters and their issues over dramatized and hard to relate to. GREAT sex scenes tho.

Emily Henry has such a unique voice in the romance genre, she avoid the usual beats we expect a romance book to follow and manages to always create depth to her stories/characters while also building a feet kicking, squeal worthy romance.
This is so far my favourite of Henry's works. I loved the focus on the literary industry, the bond of sisters, and the conversation on grief and losing a parent, growing up too fast.
Mostly I was really impressed with Nora's character. Nora is in her 30s and is seen as a 'cold', job focused, city woman, the typical trope woman who men escape from in the romance book world to start their real love story with the cute, heart on her sleeve country bumpkin. Nora doesn't want kids, she loves the city, she is ruthless in her work and most importantly none of this changes when she falls in love. Henry creates a love story where a woman who might be seen in society as not desirable is loved just as she is.
A lovely combination of tense rivals to loved and tender family dynamics create this beautiful love story and its one I won't forget anytime soon.

I don’t DNF books but after reading 60 pages, I didn’t have the desire to read on so I skimmed through the rest. It’s a basic book and might make an okay rom-com movie but I didn’t really enjoy reading it. Just felt like I was reading a basic “enemies” to lovers trope, there’s nothing special or different about it. I only wanted to read it because my fav booktuber loves this author, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Also there was 🌶️ near the end which I’m not a fan of, but if you are, then you do you. I’m so glad I didn’t waste too much time reading the full book because I know I wouldn’t have liked it if I did!
