If you treat this like a pioneer travelers log rather than a book, you'll be able to get the most out of it.

I would give it 3.5 stars if I could but it wasn't quite 4....it was entertaining enough, but so predictable, the whole seventh son of a seventh son was a bit tedious and played too much, and lan wasn't the double seventh son but double seventh child so it didn't really make much sense

I stick by exactly what I said right after I finished this book: "It was like reading somebody's life story whose life wasn't really all that interesting." In other words, quite boring most of the time. There must have been something good, though, or it wouldn't have stayed on my shelf.

strong main character and interesting alternative universe. A bit strange to have an alternate America without native americans.

This book got me out of a reading slump. I read it as a child but forgot how much I liked it! An uplifting adventure, and a fun twist on what American history would be if we had magic. I can't wait to finish the series!

Very fun fantasy book to read! The main character is very relatable. I'll probably continue reading the series!
