I enjoyed this book. I would love to read more about this character Anna/Anton Kronberg! The story has a feel of Sherlock Holmes!

Per any other Holmes fan or more defined, a female fan, I usually casually seek out a Holmes pastiche in hopes that they aren't that bad as well as seeking out a female equal. And I must say that in my honest opinion, Anna is a small step above Mary Russel but both require a desperate connection to Holmes. I was far more impressed with Carole Nelson Douglas' Irene Adler. Granted, it still includes a male character but she knew not to seek Holmes as a romantic interest amongst other positive points, including questioning Doyle as an author. My only other negative is that I was unable to read the book for sometime and felt I lost the story but while there were some nice positives here, I don't see myself re-reading this for a better overall perspective. My main problem is that I did feel that I had to push a little bit to finish the story.

A new take on a Sherlock Holmes mystery. Dr Kronberg is a fascinating character. I particualrly like the way the author focuses on the characters struggles to keep their own identity a secret for Ana it was whether to live as a man or woman for Sherlock it was the unerving way that Ana could see things in him that others could not. An engaging mystery with suitably horrid villians in the form of the "the club" and nice references to the murky world of past medicine and body snatchers. I can't wait to see what will happen with the introduction of Moriarty.

I really enjoyed it.

An enjoyable thriller/mystery. I was particularly fond of the main character, Anna Kronberg, and would like to read more stories featuring her. The depiction of Sherlock Holmes didn’t feel quite right. It was interesting how he was worked into the story, but really felt unnecessary.

Great reading

The masterful way the author created this mystery, even if almost was ruined by the love triangle, puts this book in one of the best I read this year.

I feel like there were paragraphs or pages missing sometimes - The transitions between scenes were occasionally awkward and lacking in detail. I also just didn’t find the mystery very intriguing. Made it 60% through and had to give up. Another author trying to capitalize on someone else’s character development.

Mixed feelings on this one. Review to come, hopefully.

DID NOT FINISH

I didn't finish this one. After seeing rave reviews on Amazon, I downloaded this for free. I love Sherlock Holmes and was really enjoying the mystery up until about the 30% mark when the author put in this totally unnecessary sex scene that really had nothing to do with the story and totally ruined the book for me. I couldn't take it seriously after the character behaved so seemingly out of character.
