I read this book in half a day totally worth the read! It still has me thinking about it and I really want a series adaptation of it.

This was a super fun and quick read. I’ve never been a big mystery kinda gal because I feel like they can get boring quickly, but this was not the case! This book had me gripped from the beginning. The twists toward the end actually surprised me. I wasn’t expecting the ending. I highly recommend. Can’t wait to read the next book!

This book is really good for those who enjoy true crime and the "case study" aspect of crime shows or podcasts. It's interesting to be inside the mind of a really intelligent character. The story is a bit juvenile because it's written for a YA audience, so for other adults like me it can feel a bit silly at times. If you can look past that aspect, I think you will really have a fun time with this one.

I absolutely loved this book definitely ordering and reading all the books in the series.

I love how short and easy this book was to read. I have a short attention span and usually take longer to finish a book than most people but I felt like i flew through this book. I finished the last around 10 chapters in one sitting because it got really interesting. The last few chapters are the best part of the book.

I did kind of see one of the plot twists coming towards the last few chapters but there were 2 plot twists that surprised me Spoiler!!!
The plot twist that Locke was the killer didn't surprise but I was surprised by her being Cassie's aunt I also was surprised when they realized the killer wasn't the one who killed Cassie's mom

This book has really likeable characters. I also feel like the characters relationships with each other are done well I can tell what most of them think of each other.

The book also has some really funny and wholesome moments that are just fun to read through.

I also loved seeing how Cassie and Dean profile people. It's interesting to see Cassie's thought process and how she determines characteristics of someone based on their appearance or behavior and other things.

The plot is interesting it just isn't  exactly what i expected. The first almost 2/3 of the book isn't them actually solving cold cases it more like we see how they use their natural gifts to determine information about cold cases like an example being Lia looking at interview tapes and determining if people were lying. I just wish that we got the 5 of them working together and solving cold cases before getting to the parts relating to Cassie's mother and everything else about her death.

Another thing I wasn't a fan of was the love triangle I think it is unnecessary in literally any book it is one of the tropes I hate the most.

  1. Didn't find the characterization to be the best, especially when wanting smart characters to be oblivious to obvious things
  2. Didn't fancy the last stretch.
I loved the reveal, where we are made to believe it's Michael then Dean then the killer is finally revealed. But then Locke just stands and tells us everything. Interesting backstory but an anti climatic reveal.
  3. Didn't need the love triangle at all, like, not even in the slightest. Although I did find Michael and Cassie's last convo cute.
  4. Overall nice story, not too bogged down or unnecessarily convoluted.
