Very disappointed with this one. I really liked the first book. It was emotionally charged and full of action. This one has little plot and too much smut. I am no prude, and I'm usually on board with a lot of smut in my Fantasy Romance books, but I felt like it was really bad here.

This next part might contain mild spoilers:

The magnetic connection was not there anymore. It was repetitive and meandring, didn't move the plot in any way, and honestly, happened just too often to the point where I just started zoning out until something of substance happened. It's like the Isolde and Adrian from the first book were replaced by blander, dumber, more childish versions of themselves.

I really can’t say I enjoyed this at all compared to the first one.
Truely let down.
I don’t even think anything really even happened in this book besides them arguing and having sex all the time

I don't normally write reviews...that being said, this book had so much potential. The first book I couldn't put down, but this one I was forcing myself to finish.

There was not enough character development. Not enough backstory. Not enough detail. The plot had major things that didn't make sense. There were literally 4 pages of Isolde and Adrian doing the nasty, and then directly after that was one paragraph of Isolde shape shifting into a giant dog?!

I probably won't ever reread this, but the last 2 chapters opened up a whole new plot line..so I'm probably still going to read the rest of the series. Hoping for a better smut-to-content ratio in the next one.

Favorite quote: “Trust yourself, Isolde, your soul has been speaking and you have not been listening.”

What the actually fuck. I’m in shock. I did not expect this book to go the route it did it was so beyond unpredictable. As I absolutely loved the first book and how much Isolde finally leaned in and learned her true self I loved it even more in the second book. I love a good revenge and love story. I am still in shock of where everything by ended and the CLIFFHANGER I have been left on. My god. I need more!!! I have so many questions. As much as I loved Isolde’s character development in this book I honestly was not a fan of Adrian’s. I’m not sure what was missing but there was a lack of and I was not a fan like I was in the first book. Although I did appreciate getting POVs from both Isolde and Adrian. It gives their relationship so much more depth. As for the spice… absolutely amazing as always when it comes to Scarlett St. Clair’s books. One thing between both book was how quickly everything happens. Through out both books everything happens within about 1-2 months. It was very fast paced and at times I would get lost or turned around. Either way, I’m very intrigued to see where Ms. Clair takes the next book.

So, I had high expectations for this book especially after the first one. I found that this one relied too much on the spicy and didn't develop the plot very much until the last few chapters. I didn't hate the book, but I don't think I would be chasing to read it again. I hope the third book makes up for this one.
