Feels like she wrote a list of all of the things that COULD happen with this story prior to writing it. And then at the last minute decided to just slap all of them in very messily and lazily, instead of really narrowing down her story

Very very good. Keeps the story active and has such different outcomes than I thought, although the enticement doesn’t top King of battle and blood.

This was too repetitive for me, I need the characters to develop faster, but the ending gives me hope for the next book.

This was fine. I devoured the first book, and really struggled through this one. There were a lot of threads to follow and not all of them were interesting. Like am I supposed to care or be invested in the librarian’s relationship? If so, why did nothing come of it and if not, why were so many paragraphs dedicated to it?  I’m not a huge fan of The Strong Female Character being painted as strong simply by being contrary. There was a lot of “I know I’m being unreasonable but it’s what I WANT” in terms of decisions and desires. I didn’t care for the reintroduction of Safira. I did like that there was more exploration in Isolde being Yesenia and vice versa; it definitely made the motivations and insta-love between the main characters clearer and more understandable than in the first book. The spice was spicy and at times a little excessive but I’m a sucker (haha) for vampire/blood sharing spice so I liked it. I almost DNF’d a couple times but there was enough going on that I wanted to know how it ended. I’ll probably read the third book since last I saw the author has pushed back the release date, hopefully to clean up this story and bring us something more like the first.

This book was worst than the fist in that I feel like I was reading statements about a rushed story. There wasn’t nearly enough detail and it wasn’t emotionally engaging at all. And as much as I hate to say it the smut was not it, it was way to frequent and repetitive. I do think I like the story but I really don’t like the writing.
