The characters are flat and donโt change throughout the whole story. The main plot twist is obvious from the very beginning but happens only in the second half of the book so itโs boring to read the first half which is also repetitive.
Overall it was quick and twisty read but not as good as everyone here says. The twists are entertaining but not mind-blowing and you can guess them pretty much every time. But I enjoyed the ending, interesting how it will progress in the series.

What a fun and entertaining read! My first Freida McFadden thriller and I thought it was a great introduction to her work! Minnie's inner dialogue was sometimes cringey, but I still enjoyed the fast paced and addictive plot. I loved how Freida tied it all together in the end. By now I've read four of her books and she writes the BEST epilogues. I'm looking forward to reading the sequels! The Housemaid is a must-read for all thriller fans and a definite page turner with a plot twist you'll never see coming.
