The first book club selection of the year went by fast! The book starts at the end and you are left to try and piece it together before it is all over. You definitely are led to believe the story will take you one way and then it takes you another. I don't want to spoil it, but it doesn't go exactly how I anticipated it would at the start.

Was this the best book I'll read this year? No. But I definitely enjoyed the ride and would recommend it to others (who are ok with the large number of content warnings applied here).

For those that read and loved Verity, very similar vibes. Here’s the thing, it read like candy. The people
Of the twist was predictable, but not the subject. Andrew and Nina piss me off. While Nina jump started a carreer of Millie to help others, she did it at the cost of Millie getting abused and tortured by Andrew to get out of her abusive relationship with her.

Sigh. A 4 star book knocked down to a 3.5 because of gaslighting. I know that's a ME problem. But what can I say? Gaslighting makes my blood pressure rise. I can take it in small doses, but this one is full of it. Other than that, it's a really gripping novel and I enjoyed it. Not sure it's the masterpiece that BookTok is making it out to be, but it's still very entertaining.
