This is my first read of the Mafia Wars series, definitely rushing to read the rest as I’ve fallen in love with the shared world!
Given to the enemy by way of arranged marriage in order to uphold an agreed peace treaty between the most powerful mafia families. Rosa (daughter to the Mexican Cartel boss) is betrothed to Tiernan (son to the head of the Irish Mafia). Rosa is ever the optimist and hopeful it can be turned into something more than a business transaction but Tiernan cannot see past his age old hate. Due to his narrow minded thinking, he enlists the help of family members, Shay and Colin, to fulfil certain martial obligations.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, totally unprepared for the emotional onslaught. It was like riding the emotional rollercoaster - anger, sadness, happiness, love... all the feels! The first chapter had me hooked; Ivy’s writing style kept me captivated throughout. The story featured a lot of heartache but also a ton of passion, love and understanding; which is a key element in this journey.
The characters were very well written and you see some amazing development throughout the book. The personalities were written in such depth, it felt like you connected with them during the story.
Rosa is a very strong character and easily likeable; I rooted for her all the way through the book. I was in awe of her passionate, very stubborn personality and how much love she had to give. My feelings towards Tiernan were up and down like a yoyo! I had moments where I loathed him but absolutely loved his filthy mouth

Not only was this book poorly written, but it also had no plot and ignored every detail of the characters development that should have been plot points. The main character has trauma from being abused by her dad, and then her new husband abuses her and we don't say anything about that?? He's also a huge piece of shit and super territorial but is totally fine with sharing Rosa with his brother AND cousin!?!? this shirt made me mad

Not enough relationship building. I also spent a good portion of the book feeling like I’ve read it before. But it was good enough for an easy read
Ok I enjoyed this, I did feel like the ending was a little rushed, but I think that was just to stop the book from being too long. I would have liked to see more of a relationship between Rosa and the other boys. Tiernan was an ASS but love that
The plot got me interested, opened the book, found out it’s RH got disappointed as hell. But not only did I read it, I finished almost the whole series. This wasn’t even an RH it was a love triangle… not even a love triangle, something even more confusing.
It was pretty good. I don’t mind RH, I actually didn’t know this book was RH at first, but it was kind of lacking in that department. I felt like she forced H into it. Also felt a bit off balance since she’s married to H. But still enjoyed it overall, like Rosa as the main female.
