In this episode...... Damn! This light little cozy series sure has gotten dark lately.

Borrowed as a "blind date" from the library.
I didn't like the way the women characters were written and was surprised it was done so by a female author. In just the first pages there were three women that seemed nothing but negatives and stereotypes, though there were positively drawn characters that appeared later. I didn't find much sympathy for any of the male characters either, although there were one or two I liked something about. Also the writing and editing was awkward, like there should've been more information to remind the reader who's speaking or what's going on, or introduce a new paragraph to introduce a new action.
It was short and easy to read so I did finish it, even though it kept going on after what seemed to be one ending and then another.
The most positive or interesting features were the highlanders and their highlands.

As with the whole series, lightweight and with most of the characters being broad caricatures, but also as with the whole series, amusing.

Another entertaining read in the series, although lets be honest they're not hard to read. I've read most of the series and use them as light books that don't need a lot of concentration inbetween plot thick novels. Hamish Macbeth hasn't changed in all the books, he's still the unambitious, brainy, single policeman living in his beloved Lochdubh. Must admit I'm getting a bit fed up of the Priscilla storyline and Macbeth constantly whining on about how he doesn't want a woman to come in and change him, that seems very immature as people do change over the years when they're a couple whether they realise it or not. I'll still carry on reading them as they're easy to pick up and they're light reads, what's known in our house as 'bath books' because you can put them down and pick up a week later and not have to worry about the plot.

Simple and quick story, really predictable but an easy way to pass the time.

This was another fun audiobook but that LOTR movie length epilogue killed it.
