Interesting concept; a grifter buys a million dollar winning lottery ticket, but can’t cash it because she’s wanted by the law. It was so hard for me to get past the dialogue. It was kind of boring and juvenile. There was a lot of past and present switching that wasn’t necessary.
I just wanted a good story with more thrills, but it fell flat.

This book really surprised me. It had me hooked right from the beginning. A quick read with a great story that keeps you on your toes and wanting more. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed this on audio. The characters are interesting and the dual plot lines worked well. I felt equally engaged between both storylines (which is rare!). Characters' "bad behavior" is understandable, if still frustrating, and I was surprised by how much I was rooting for the characters at the end. You really have to suspend your realism to buy the ending (and a lot of plot).

I will not be reading this again, however, I might watch the TV movie that is being developed. I didn't love any character. There was so much potential in this story though, and I think little changes made for the movie could make it a real success. The book goes back and forth between the current trials and adventures of one Luciana "Lucky" Armstrong and past Lucky. This ended up leading to my biggest issue with the book, as there is a point where the past catches up to the present, but Lucky at that point does not match Lucky at the beginning of the book like it should have. There are also quite a few loose ends that weren't all wrapped up neatly at the end.
The quote on the cover for being "the most fun reading" really misled me. There wasn't anything fun about this book.
While it had some good parts, an interesting story line, it was also painfully sad. Yes, you're rooting for the main character but also thinking, how could this possibly end up better for her.
I was also hoping the blurb on the back "truth, personal redemption, and the complexity of being good" would have been better played out. With each chapter we learn more about Lucky's story and there were so many missed opportunities to dig deep into the "complexity of being good" but Lucky only barely scratched the surface.
And the ending was so rushed. 11 pages is all she takes to quickly tie up the story lines. This had so much potential but fell flat for me.
This pick for Reese's book club was a miss for me. Skip this one.

it was alright!!! i listened to the audiobook which made me confused a lot of the time but i liked it!!!
Not bad. The plot was good, it was just a little corny. I’m just glad that a certain thing didn’t happen. I won’t say what but it would have ruined it for me.
This was really fast paced and an easy read. It was prefect out get me out of my slump.
The story was okay, relatively predictable with a very neat & tidy ending. Was less of a thriller than I thought it would be, but I enjoyed it overall.
