It’s fine. An okay portrait of a goodish character. Super lopsided in terms of pacing and the ending felt blunt.
I would say that it wrapped up too easily, but the whole theme of the book is LUCKY, so I guess that I was supposed to expect that, ha. It was a fun, quick read. (This shouldn't matter, but the shape of the book was weird. Very tall. I would have preferred a smaller paperback.)
Quick and fun read. I could definitely see myself reading a follow up to this story if the author chose to write one. What does Lucky’s relationship with her mother look like after all this? Does Lucky redeem herself with the lottery winnings? Does she find someone that she could start a family with? Felt like one of those quick summer beach reads and those are always a nice escape. Nor do they require some love story basis as most of them do.
Finished this one earlier today. Another buddy read between myself & Mel from Melanie’s Reads we did three chapters a day but both fell in love with it from the start.
Main character Lucky has been through a bloody lot thats one thing. Heists. Robbery. Stealing. On the run. But she was easily led astray by her father, boyfriend and others surrounding her. She was never alone. Will she change? Pay for her crimes? Get caught? Get Lucky? Alot happens throughout this story so there is always something to keep the reader hooked. Will her lottery ticket change her?
Mel got the ending spot on. I didn’t have a clue. But a brilliant ending to a brilliant story. We both really enjoyed it. The story flicks between the present Lucky and Lucky in the past. Highly recommend! Had me hooked. A well deserved four stars from me. One I won’t forget in a long time. Its also currently 99p.

I really enjoyed this read. I went into the book with no expectations. I really think I enjoyed the book way more because of this.
I loved the plot (even if it was far-fetched at times) and the fact that there were some twists and turns I never saw coming. The main character ‘lucky’ is such a fun character and has a great back story.
There was also some great humour throughout and every character brought something to the story whether big or small.

A redemption story that delves into nature vs nurture, and how our our main characters life is molded by both. It was quick and engaging read. However, it felt a little too neatly wrapped up at the conclusion.
I loved this one! It read like a movie — Lucky’s journey playing out in my head like it was on the big screen. She was such a complicated yet lovable character, and I couldn’t help but root for her throughout. It had a little action, quite a bit of family drama, some surprises and a plot that drove the story. I recommend it for sure!
This book is for you if you want a light "in between" book to cleanse your reading palette. It is the story of Lucky, someone who never knew her mother and spent her life with her father, conning people out of money and skirting the law. Without giving away any spoilers, Lucky does reach a point where you think her luck has finally run out. As a reader, I was very much rooting for a happy ending for Lucky. This book is very readable but overall doesn't do anything terribly exciting in plot or character-building. Perhaps over-hyped?
