The main issue for me is that the writing just wasn’t working for me. The over explaining of trivial things made zero sense.

“I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. I took it out and my phone was lit up”

Yes, because that’s what happens when your phone vibrates???

I didn’t expect this to hit so hard! Read it in one day on the plane and I loved it. The writing is so beautiful and I felt like the author captured Natalie’s awkwardness and uncertainty perfectly.

hot off reading "Ripe" by Sarah Rose Etter, the beginning of this book was hard for me to get through - both main characters are girls from small towns, moving to the city to become more and both having some thoughts of imposter syndrome. they are also both written to be young and extremely naive which was tiring to read. about halfway through both novels one of the main characters becomes pregnant, so there were just too many similarities and I had to take a few days break. that being said after getting back into it I was happy to be reading an interesting queer book, and I did enjoy the writing - well thought out.

wasn’t that into the premise but was delighted with what they did with it. a slow start but it picks up into a whirlwind of realizations at the end. also extremely accurate portrayal of what it is like to live in residence.

I loved how this ended, I feel like sometimes lit fic, especially lit fic about younger people, ends kind of bleakly, but this ended on a such a nice, hopeful note that still felt realistic. The characters were complex and well written, and I loved the development of friendship that happened throughout the book.
