I was asked to review this book as part of a ARC Netgalley read.

⭐⭐⭐ / 5

So well written and definitely a recommended read!

I loved this book, Jade is a fabulous character, this is a is a wonderful book about grief and healing.

This is also about finding your sexuality, yourself and life. It's about Black culture and Jamaican culture.

Love to be a little bit messy as a 20-something

I listened to the audiobook so the POV changes were a bit jarring in the beginning
, especially when you could hear events from more than one POV

This book felt like it was telling me things rather than showing. The narrative was disjointed with information thrown at you in a seemingly random manner. The multi POV's were confusing as there didn't seem to be a distinct voice between them so they got jumbled quickly.

I received this copy fro NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this idiosyncratic contemporary exploration of grief, race and sexuality - through the eyes of a contemporary main character with highly relatable issues and anxieties. The portrait of a group of Toronto friends on holiday is sassy, out-there and fun and the main character's overall journey to get over her personal grief is compelling. This suffered slightly in comparison to You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty which I read at a similar time and touched on many of the same themes - I found the writing style of this not very sophisticated, the main character's motivations and actions somewhat confusing at times, and the ending / closure much less satisfying - but it felt like a fresh voice and highly readable.

#endmultiplepovbooks the problem with these books is that some of the characters are just so much more interesting than others, like when i was reading tayja and amethysts povs i wished that i was just reading a book about them instead... the open relationship thing was also silly to me. i liked that she realised that everyone else around her was more interesting than her and decided to go solo travel by the end, but introducing the povs of the more interesting characters made her seem really dull i fear

I absolutely loved Jade is a Twisted Green! Although I found it a little rough to get into for the first 20-30 pages because I felt like it jumped around to different characters too much once I got an idea of who everyone was and got to know the characters more I completely fell in love with them all. I couldn’t help but root for Jade even through some not so great moments to find herself and heal from her grief while learning to lean on her friends for support.

For sure will be looking to add this one to my shelf when it comes out!
