Super Librarian! I fell in love with the dangerous and mysterious library in Lirael and, quite frankly, I would have been happy if Lirael stayed there solving magical problems.

Listened to Tim Curry reading the audiobook - delightful. I'm sorry that the point of the book was "let's build up to the third book" - but I'll pretend that it and the third book are just one book and I think it will work out all right. Great writing, a little too much teen whining for my tastes, but I suspect it's my tastes that are changing, not the quality of the depiction of teen angst.

4.25 stars. This was some really solid, engrossing fantasy that was extremely easy to sink into and fly through each time I picked the book up. Despite being a much longer book than the first in the series, there are no words wasted, and the plot and characters are always moving forward and developing in interesting ways. Onwards to the next book!

This was a great book, and a good continuation from the last one. The dog was a bit too much of a deus ex machina, but otherwise it was a really impressive book. I kind of wish he would explain the system of Clayrs, Remembrancers, Abhorsens and other groups better, and I'm hoping he will in the next book.

The audiobook is awesome, read by Tim Curry! The world building continues where Sabriel left off and gets even more intricate, which is fun! I had trouble with some of the characters… the main character is great, with a super satisfying arc, but she’s surrounded by shallow and sometimes pretty irritating characters.
