I think I would have liked this more if I was in high school, not because it was bad but because some themes and lessons would have been more impactful to me at that time.
I truly don’t know if I could have forgivenDaisy for the fanfic character but it’s also such a teenager thing to do that it kind of makes sense.
I don’t really get why Davis was there, the friendship between the two girls was infinitely more interesting than him, and the whole “mystery” of his father was not super necessary and kind of unsatisfying.

I have loved every book I've read by this man. He is one of the first authors to have ever made me cry. However, while I loved this book and enjoyed reading it, Turtles All the Way Down is not my favorite by John Green. It's hard for me to accurately explain how I felt about this book.
I loved the characters. I related to the friendship between Aza and Dasiy. I liked being able to understand the way Aza spiraled. I enjoyed watching her learn to handle her mental illness. I absolutely loved the last few pages.
The one thing that felt like it wasn't needed and maybe someone can explain to me why it was: Davis's dad. That part of the story, I just don't know why it was there. Yes, it is what got Davis into Aza's life but otherwise, I don't know. I honestly would have loved it more if it was just about Aza and Daisy's friendship and there was no Davis in general.
With that being said, I loved this book and would most likely read this again.

and I can feel John in this chilis tonight….
I didn’t really connect with any of the characters, but I did minutely appreciate reading about the skinny white boy instead of reading from his pov

As a mystery story - this isn't really a mystery story, and you're going to be disappointed if you treat it as one.
As a romance story - I found it kind of unsatisfying, but I think this may have been part of the point.
As a story about friendship - I think it works. Both Aza and Daisy seem likeable but also like they would be difficult to have as a best friend, for different reasons, and the book explores this dynamic in a relatively interesting way.
As a story about obsessive-compulsive disorder and germaphobia - it really works, and this is clearly where the focus lies.
