Well this book wasn't what I was expecting - but It was funny, informative, and enlightening .
I think I had this pre-conception that it would be more 'unknown stories from the dark ages/middle ages/medieval times', but it was more of a brief history of individual topics related to sex (e.g. contraception, biological knowledge, kinks, etc). Turns out a lot of these topics don't have a very long (known) history.
The author has a great voice - and doesn't take themselves too seriously. I found myself laughing out loud to a lot of the commentary they provided. And I applaud them for being able to simplify, and make accessible, a lot of the complicated, biased, and problematic history related to sex and sex-adjacent topics.

Not really very informative (and filled with grammatical errors, which made my eye twitch), but generally an easy and fun read.

A fantastic and comprehensive book about sex. This is a book I wish I had as a teen and would want my teenager to read. A judgement free funny informative book.

This was funny and informative, both in the ‘wow this is a fascinating fact I did not know’ and ‘this is a tidbit I am going to mention to make people uncomfortable in social situations’ sort of ways.
It satisfied a curiosity that I did not know I had. And somehow managed to pique my curiosity about porn vases and Victorian smut. I did not know I cared to know about these things, but now I just have to see what the author was talking about.
10/10 will read a collection or random facts from the author again.
