Mostly good? Very hetero. One of Saffron's sisters is in a relationship with a woman, but she's a very minor character so it falls a bit short for me personally. One more LGBT character (at least) would make the jump from tokenism to acknowledging that straight isn't default.
A fun read, with a lot to say about family & friends.
My nan lent me this and it was actually so nice and relaxing...

This is the first time I have ever listened to an audio book. I really enjoyed it! The characters were so easy to love and the storyline made it easy to follow along with.
This is chick-lit and feel-good at its best! A gorgeous story about three women, who randomly meet at a New Year's party, and how their friendship becomes so dear to them. I definitely enjoyed this book mostly because of its humour; I found myself smiling - even grinning - at it a couple of times, because it's just so spot on on the subject of being a modern woman: her relations, her love-life, children and career.
The three women - Gemma, Caitlin and Saffron - have very different schedules and different dilemmas in their life. However, they join together and help each other whether it's familytrouble or business.
As said, I laughed quite often at this amazing book by Lucy Diamond. I even shed a few tears (which is just awkward in public transportation). I would definitely recommend this book to you if you like chick-lit, feel-good, humours books and women in all their normality.
There was something about New Year's Eve that always brought her up a little short - that taking-stock moment when life seemed to hinge between two planes, past and future, and you were forced to examine exactly where you were.

I literally waited for almost an entire year to read this book, just so I could read it at the beginning of a new year (I'm weird about stuff like that lol) and it was worth it. I expected it to be some cliché chick-lit story but it was so much more than that. I loved the characters, all of them (even Spencer although he was an dick). But most importantly: the FRIENDSHIP.
Women who support each other. Business women. Women who are strong. Women that praise other women. So many stories need more 'Girl Love' and need to stop the girl on girl hate.
I wanna thank Lucy Diamond for doing that.

I really liked the characters in this book, exuberant Gemma who was about to experience a pretty horrific shock; career-minded Saffron who had to make a huge decision that would change the way she lived, forever; and poor Caitlin who was left with a mystery that ended up causing a lot of heartache. These three women meet up on New Years' Eve and though they break a few fortune cookies together and make some impossible but hopeful resolutions, things are not ever what they seem.
These three women were strong in the face of adversity and came together when they needed each other. I wanted to slap Gemma's husband Spencer though I was sure that we were meant to feel sorry for him; my heart broke for poor Caitlin - I wasn't sure how much more she could take when she found out the truth of the secret her mother had been keeping from her until the day she died and then there's Saffron...part of me wanted to cheer when she finally stood up for herself...I worried for her and smiled when things started to go right after so many crappy things happened.
The only thing that I will say is that I was disappointed with the ending...it had started to come full-circle but I felt as though it was left almost unfinished; there was no closure - or at least there was some but not enough.
All in all a good read, not the first of Diamond's books that I have read and enjoyed, but I do think it could have done with some sort of 'finish'.
