This was a quick, occasionally insightful, and often goofy read. I most enjoyed the vicarious NYC experience in the subways and Central Park. The satire on modern privileged elementary school students and their parents was laugh inducing. Sometimes, things got so wild I had trouble keeping track, but then it also didn't seem very important to hold onto details. All to say, I liked it, but not a must.

This was definitely a love letter to the life a NYC straphanger. However, while I could feel the desire to connect the mythology to modern day New York City, it felt like a bit of a stretch at times. While billed as funny, I didn't necessarily find it humorous although perhaps knowing more of the original mythology may have helped my enjoyment. In general the mythology/fantasy aspect of the novel was my favorite part.

I’m thoroughly impressed. His first novel was a bit weak and seemed forced although short and concise...just not great. Have yet to read his second because I was mildly turned away by the first. However, this one was great. It’s actually a fantasy about religion, love, and relationships. Sounds rather dry and droll but it was fantastic. Very well done. Erudite and entertaining. I’d definitely say read the third novel.

I loved the audio. It felt like fox Mulder was reading me an odd, wordy, lovely story.

This book is definitely annoying at the beginning. It seems like a story written about a woman read by someone obsessed with talking about themselves...  Not that he talks about himself but it just seems to get so off the point of the story at  the beginning. There were so many points where I became interested but then David Duchovny goes off on a tangent about something unrelated and it just goes on and on and on.

There are def some interesting parts and by the end it's really good. I don't think I'd read another David Duchovny book but I was happy overall with the ending. Overall the book was an interesting concept. Creative, mythological and a bit sci-fi-y.

I was very fortunate to meet the author of Miss Subways, David Duchovny at a PopUp Book Group sponsored by Book the Writer in NYC. This novel was born from an Irish Folktale and updated to 2018 New York City. David Duchovny was born in New York and this is his appreciation of the New York City subway system. He is a witty engaging writer and this is a social commentary as well as a love story. His main character, Emer believes she has found the love of her life in Con, but borrowing from the Irish Folktale, the course of true love may not run smooth. David Duchovny was gracious, speaking about his writing process, as well as touching briefly on his acting career. He signed and personalized copies of his book at the end of a pleasant, bookish evening.
