One of the many sources of Tolkien's Middle Earth, the saga is interesting for the details that show up in his works (dragons, cursed rings, a broken sword that must be reforged, etc.) but is also great on its own, especially if you appreciate mythology and folklore.

This story is badass! It seems to be related to the King Arthur legend, and is part that, part torture tutorial, and part boss bitch women tearing things down around them when men try to control them. Beware Icelandic women, they will cut you up and feed you to their suitors should you displease them.

This is another one I'll have to study further. Really amazing scenes that I'd like to think more about, gruesome though they are.

Read for Vikings Past and Present 1st semester sophomore year. it's interesting to see where so many people (Wagner, Tolkien, etc) took inspiration for their work.

Got this one as an audiobook on my Audible membership. I can't really say what I was expecting exactly, but I definitely hadn't anticipated it to be so very bone dry.
It might be an apt translation, but a captivating narration it is most certainly not. So I had a really hard time keeping track of the characters in the stories.
I have great interest in the subject matter, but this one didn't tick any boxes with me.

Definitely the most readable translation I’ve come across of the Saga, and the first time I’ve ever heard/read the story of Ragnar, which I think was a great addition. The introduction was also very informative, though if you want ZERO spoilers you may want to skip ahead and wait until you’ve finished the stories (I don’t think it takes away from them at all, but I’m not everyone).
