I found this helpful to know what is out there in terms of story and genres. I added more novels to my To Be Read pile thanks to this book.
I'm sure these aren't the greatest 100, but I would say many of them are. The genre is exploding and this helps to see what is the core or most important, for me anyway.
I enjoyed the commentary. It's a great introduction to important Graphic Novels.

Readers advisory material has an important place in terms of the landscape of reading, and there are plenty of wonderful books listed in this collection. I would have preferred to see a few more works by African American artists on this list personally, but anyone just starting to read comics will find a good foundation in this book.
