The Forgotten Recipe is the latest book by Amy Clipston. It is an Amish Heirloom Novel. Veronica Fisher is devastated over the loss of her fiancé, Seth Lapp. He died in an accident at work. She has been unable to move forward nor is she grieving properly. Veronica has kept herself busy cleaning. She sets out to clean the families’ attic and discovers a beautiful hope chest. Inside the trunk she finds a recipe for her grandmother’s raspberry pie recipe. Veronica quits cleaning the attic to go off and try the recipe. It turns out to be a success and quite popular with locals and tourists.

Jason Huyard works at the Lancaster Shed Company (owned by his father and uncle). Seth Lapp was his best friend and co-worker. Jason was there when Seth feel to his death. He is having a hard time dealing with the loss of his friend. He has been thinking quite a bit about Veronica. Seth talked about her all the time and Jason feels like he knows her. His mother sends him to buy a raspberry pie and discovers Veronica. Jason does not tell her that he knew Seth (big mistake). Slowly Jason and Veronica spend time together and get to know each other. Veronica is hesitant at first because she had made a promise to love only Seth when he proposed. Veronica and Jason have something special. But can Jason’s secret ruin their relationship? Will Veronica ever be able to trust again?

The Forgotten Recipe is a lovely novel. It is well written and heartwarming. It is about love, soul mates, forgiveness and trust (and a good pie recipe). It is the type of book that you want to read on a cold winter evening in front of a fireplace. I give The Forgotten Recipe 4.5 out of 5 stars. You cannot go wrong with one of Amy Clipston’s novels. They are always enjoyable to read and they draw the reader into the story. The story is left with a cliffhanger (or a secret not revealed). We now have to wait for the next book. That is the only thing I found frustrating. I wish everything had been wrapped up in this book (though I do understand why the author did it).

I received a complimentary copy of The Forgotten Recipe from NetGalley (and the publisher) in exchange for an honest review.

I am finally going back and starting this series from the beginning. Thankfully each book stands quite nicely. And actually having read Mattie’s (the Mom) story first t explains all her comments and reactions so much more.

I started reading Mrs. Clipston towards the end of last year and I have yet to be disappointed.

The Forgotten Recipe is the first book in her Amish Heirloom series. After losing her fiancée Veronica Fisher takes solace in baking a raspberry pie recipe that belonged to her Mammi. She soon meets Jason Huyard at her bake stand and they become friends. Jason though is hiding something from her that could threaten her trust in him. Amy Clipston does a fantastic job portraying losing some dear to you through Veronica. You really feel for her throughout the book. While I commend Jason for being there for being there for Veronica he should of been truthful with her from the start. I do understand why he took so long though. I’m interested to see if Veronicas sisters Rachel and Emily will have there own story’s in this series. I haven’t looked at the other books yet. It be interesting to read more about Rachel and David. Well written and and at times emotional The Forgotten Recipe was an excellent start to the Amish Heirloom series.

I definitely recommend this book if you’ve read any of Amy Clinton’s previous works or just a fan of Amish fiction in general.

I always enjoy reading books by Amy Clipston and she didn't disappoint me. The Forgotten Recipe is book one of the new series An Amish Heirloom Novel.

Veronica Fisher is a young Amish women preparing to marry her Bestfriend Seth Lapp. When a tragic accident ends Seth life, Veronica decides she will never love again to honor is life. When she meets Jason Huyard she is instantly attracted to him but tries to stay clear of him and her emotions.

Jason falls in love with Veronica even though he is keeping a huge secret from her. Seth was is bestfriend and he was there the day he died. Jason fears he will hurt Veronica even more and she will walk out his life if the truth is told.

I fell in love with Jason, Veronica and her sister Rachel. Amy always have vibrant characters who pull you in their lives and stories. The details and descriptions will draw you in. I've visited Lancaster County a few times so it's always nice to read a book based there.

I'm anxious to read book two from Rachel's view point and hopefully learn more about the secrets behind the Hope Chest that put everything in motion.

First reading:
I loved this book.
It was full of emotion, sadness, joy, worry, excitement and a happy ending.
I felt very connected with the characters' emotions in the end too.
I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Second reading:
I still enjoyed reading this for a second time but my reading tastes and preferences have changed since so i didn't like it as much anymore.
It's a sweet love story, with themes of grief, hope and second chances.
You feel the pain the characters are going through and I like that about the way this book was written.
I may reread the rest of the series too so I'm curious to see what I think of them now.

Veronica is grieving the loss of her fiancé, Seth, after her suffers a fatal accident while at work. Jason, Seth's best friend and co-worker., is hoping to get to know Veronica so they can help either other through their grief. They meet by chance, causing Jason to withhold the truth from Veronica, but the two quickly develop feelings for one another. This was a touching story and I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters. I especially enjoyed the closeness shared between Veronica and her late grandmother through a pie recipe.

The Forgotten Recipe is the first book in the An Amish Heirloom book series. I really enjoyed the characters Amy Clipston has developed. Amy really does create a story that sucks you in and makes you part of the story. I have been searching for a great raspberry pie now! :)

After losing her fiancé in a tragic accident, Veronica Fisher finds solace in the old recipes stored in her mother’s hope chest—and in a special visitor who comes to her bake stand to purchase her old-fashioned raspberry pies.

Veronica Fisher knows how lucky she is to be marrying her best friend. Seth Lapp is kind, hardworking, and handsome—but most importantly, he loves Veronica.

When an accident on the job steals Seth away from her, a heartbroken Veronica is certain she will never love—or be loved—again. Yet when she discovers a batch of forgotten recipes and opens a bake stand to sell her Mammi’s raspberry pies, Veronica picks up a regular customer who gives her heart pause.

When I read this description I knew I had to read this book. I enjoyed and devoured Amy Clipston’s Kauffman Amish Bakery Series and was left feeling empty after I finished it last year. I was so excited to see that she had another series starting and it reminded me of the Kauffman Amish Bakery series. I fell in love with Veronica and my heart just simply broke for her as I read the book. Her journey to healing is filled with laughter and tears with a wonderful ending that left me wanting more. I can’t wait to see where Amy takes this series. I hope to see more of Veronica in future books and to see where Amy takes the other characters that were introduced especially with some story lines that were hinted on but not discussed in detail. I could read this again and I recommend it to anyone that loves Amish fiction with romance and mystery.
