I enjoyed this, but because the plot jumps around in time so much it’s really hard to get invested in any of the characters. A fun read, but not crazy special

When I read the title I was like uhm what? Then I read the summary and still thought hmmm.... Then I started the book and found it hard to stop... A good book to let everything be for a while.

This book was just what I needed - not too heavy, nor too fluffy

Anyone who lived long enough to understand the significance of time must have wished to travel and live to a different time period. This tale brings a twist to it, rather it makes the protagonist travel to a different time "period" each year with no clue how to live though it, aided only by her mother and another helpful ally(more on him in the story later). While one might get frustrated by the frequent mistakes and forced decisions made by the protagonist, mistakes and decisions however, eventually maketh a man (and a woman! Just like the protagonist). That, along with another realization that moments, however they are, must be treasured and respected, for there are no second chances and reattempts, just like the character had none despite the weird time travel. The book has a lot to teach, and a really nice story to tell, despite the inconvenience of attempting to fit everything within 300 pages.

I love the unique concept of this book. The time travel nature and questions it brings up are compelling. The main character and her frustrations are understandable. The book started well and ended well but it dragged a bit for me in the middle. I was glad Oona couldn’t go through her entire life in the book as the concept, though interesting, started to get old.

3.75 . Even though I enjoyed this novel, I couldn’t quite bring myself to round up to 4 stars. I loved the concept and the writing was mostly fun, but there was some repetitiveness in the protagonist’s attitude and responses that grated on my annoyance nerve. I did like how the characters could intertwine through time leaps snd how their stories meld. This would have scored higher for me if there had been more rhyme and reason given for the protagonist’s condition and how other folks in the story interacted with the knowledge of her condition. A fun read though! Overall I recommend. Audio version was okay, but Expect printed read is best.
