⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ — Finlay just can’t keep herself out of trouble, no matter how hard she tries!
This series continues to be such a fun ride, and Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun might be one of my favorite installments yet. The chaos, the comedy, the crime-solving—it’s all perfectly blended with just the right amount of heart. Finlay and Vero are as lovable and messy as ever, and their antics somehow keep escalating in the most ridiculous (and delightful) ways.
The pacing was great, the mystery kept me hooked, and the character development made it more than just another “accidental sleuth” story. Honestly, I flew through this one. I’m already counting down the days until the next book—because with Finlay, there’s always more trouble waiting around the corner.

While this was definitely my least favorite of the Finlay Donovan series, I sill truly love diving into this silly world every year. I wrote in my review of book #2 that Elle Cosimano juggled a lot really well, that was actually my biggest issue with this book.
There were still several plot lines to work through in book #3, but it felt more jumbled and messy and hard to keep track. I was also a little bored this time around, and Finlay and Vero were restricted to one setting for the week and there were fewer opportunities for their outlandish antics.
That said, I really do love Cosimano's writing and the way she can take these books from hilarious to heart-pounding in a matter of paragraphs. This is still my favorite murder/comedy series out there, and I'll be excited to get hold of the next book when she finishes it.

I loved the premise of this, but I feel like we got too caught up in the environment and lost sight of the overall storyline. I didn’t feel connected to the new characters at all, and started to lose interest in the pursuit. Unsure if I’ll continue in the series or not!
