I loooooved the first two books in the series, but this one just fell really flat to me.
It seemed like we completely skipped over Vero's backstory with her sorority sisters and her gambling problem and just picked up where she's being hunted by the some loan shark? I had to check to make sure I didn't miss anything between the second and third books, but I think it was just a mishandled plotline. I also really didn't understand why Julian showed up randomly towards the end, like it just seemed unnecessary and rushed.

I have come to learn that the Finlay Donovan books are a very reliably good read, every time. The romance is palpable and really amped up compared to the first two. The twists kept me completely tuned in, curious, and I never saw the reveal coming. This one was so much more suspenseful than the first two due to an increased amount of action, and multiple conflicts to resolve. It was an incredibly engaging experience, even though it was must shorter and faster-paced than usual. The one things that could have pushed this past the 4 star mark would have been a little more balance in format throughout the story. There was a lot of world building and exposition in the beginning, that while necessary, felt entirely too detailed in comparison to the more important mystery-solving details toward the end. Getting past the "how cop camp works" premise, and actually getting to solving the problem, took longer than it should have, and the mystery solving felt rushed in comparison. It also seemed like some corners were cut along the way. Regardless, it's hard to care! I get so addicted to every Finlay Donovan book and the resolution for this one made it soooo worth it.

Great audiobook narration for another super fun instalment in this series! Highly recommend. Great read-alike for the tv show Good Girls. The ending was conclusive but left an opening for another sequel, looking forward to it!
